Localised Marketing.

Local Marketing That Puts Your Business on the Map

Tired of watching local customers go to your competitors instead of you? Local SEO puts your business in front of people ready to buy, bringing you more of those calls and enquiries.

Most local businesses are invisible to the people searching for them.

Here’s the bit that gets us. A good business, with loyal customers and proper expertise, sits there wondering why the phone isn’t ringing. Every time we look under the bonnet, it’s the same story.

The website looks fine. The Google Business Profile is half filled in. Someone did a bit of SEO a few years ago. The marketing and the website are run by different people who never talk to each other. And every week, people within five miles are typing “[their service] near me” into Google and finding someone else.

That’s what localised marketing is actually for. Not vanity rankings. Not a dashboard full of traffic that never converts. Just real enquiries, from real local people, to a business that can actually serve them.

If that sounds like you, you’re in the right place.

What is localised marketing, and why does it decide whether your phone rings?

Localised marketing is everything that helps a business get found by people searching nearby, and then trusted enough that they actually make contact. It covers your Google Business Profile, Bing Places, local landing pages on your website, on-page SEO with proper schema, and the steady trickle of reviews, citations and backlinks that tell search engines your business is the real deal in your area.

According to Google, around 46% of all searches have local intent. Nearly half the people typing into Google right now are looking for something close to them. If you’re not set up properly for local search, those people are finding your competitors by default.

At Sokada we don’t treat local marketing as a separate tick-box service. It’s joined up with your website, your content, and the way enquiries get followed up. That’s the whole point. A beautiful website that Google can’t place on a map isn’t going to fill your inbox, and a perfectly optimised Google Business Profile pointing to a confused website isn’t going to do it either.

What localised marketing actually includes when we do it properly

Google Business Profile optimisation. We set it up or clean it up, get the categories right, write a proper description, add services, photos and opening hours, and keep it active. Most of the profiles we see on day one have been abandoned.

Bing Places and other directories. Google gets the headlines, but Bing now powers the search inside ChatGPT for a lot of queries. We set up Bing Places and the trusted UK directories your business should be in.

Real local landing pages. Not the spammy, duplicated “Plumber in [town]” pages you see stuffed everywhere. Pages written for actual people in that town, with the sort of content Google and AI engines will happily cite.

Local on-page SEO and schema. Proper heading structure, clean code, local schema markup, and the new LLM.txt files that help large language models quote your site correctly when someone asks ChatGPT “who’s a good plumber in Tunbridge Wells?”

Reviews, citations and trust flow. We help you gather reviews properly, build citations on the directories that actually carry weight, and work on the trust signals that tell Google you are an established local business rather than a stranger.

Content that answers real local questions. FAQ content, blog posts, and service area pages built around the questions people in your area are genuinely asking.

What’s included when Sokada runs your localised marketing.

Every business is slightly different, so we tailor what we do to your area, your services and your budget. The core of it stays the same.

Google Business Profile done properly

We go through your profile line by line. Categories, services, opening hours, photos, description, Q&A. We set up weekly posts where it makes sense, handle review responses, and make sure the profile stays active. An abandoned profile is worse than no profile.

Bing Places and AI-friendly setup

We set up your Bing Places listing, add the LLM.txt file to your website, and structure your pages so AI engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews can actually quote you. This is new ground for most businesses, and the early movers are already starting to pick up enquiries from it. We got our first AI-sourced enquiry last month.

Google Local Service Ads (optional add-on)

For eligible trades and home services, we can also set up Google Local Service Ads. These appear at the very top of search with the “Google Guaranteed” badge and you only pay when someone contacts you. Not included in standard packages, but works brilliantly alongside local SEO.

Proper local landing pages

If you serve more than one town, you need pages that speak to those towns specifically. Not copy-pasted templates with the name swapped out. Real content, real local context, real reasons someone in that area should pick you. Google spots the difference. AI engines definitely spot the difference.

Citations, directories and trust flow

We work through the directories that actually carry weight. Not the scammy ones. We build up the citation profile and trust flow that tells Google you are an established local business. For a brand new website, this bit matters more than most agencies will admit.

On-page SEO, schema and technical health

Clean code, fast pages, proper heading structure, Local Business schema, FAQ schema, review markup. We build the technical foundation that makes every other bit of marketing work harder.

Content and reviews

A steady flow of useful content, proper review gathering, and monthly activity that keeps the profile and the website fresh. Search engines and AI engines both reward businesses that keep showing up.

Why choose Sokada for your localised marketing.

Website and marketing are joined up, not bolted on.

This is the big one. Most businesses have a web designer who does the site, a marketing person who does the ads, and a friend who does the SEO. None of them talk. We do all of it, as one service, because it only works when it’s joined up.

We care whether you get enquiries.

Genuinely. Our goal every month is to increase the leads coming in for you. If that isn’t happening, you will hear from us about what we are changing before you hear from us about anything else.

You get a small team who know you.

You are not a ticket number. Our developer, our designer, our content and marketing team. Same faces every month.

Local to the South East.

We’re based in Heathfield, East Sussex. We work with businesses across Kent, Sussex and the South East. If you want to pop in for a coffee and a chat, you can.

Honest about what we can promise.

We will not guarantee you a number. What we will do is show you what’s worked for other businesses like yours, agree realistic goals, and measure against them every month.

Our process, step by step.

1. Free audit

We run an audit on your current website, Google Business Profile, local rankings and technical health. You get the results whether you work with us or not.

2. Plan and priorities

We agree what the priorities are for the first three months. Usually Google Business Profile, quick technical wins, and the pages Google is most likely to reward fastest.

3. Set up and clean up

We implement everything in the plan, get the foundations right, and make sure the website and marketing are properly joined up.

4. Monthly delivery

Content, reviews, technical improvements, reporting. Small, steady and consistent beats a big splash every time.

5. Review and adjust

Every month we look at the numbers together, talk about what’s working, and adjust. No long, jargony reports. Just a proper conversation.

The one objection we always hear

“We already pay someone for SEO and they send us reports.” We hear this weekly. The question we always ask back is: are you getting more enquiries than you were six months ago? If the answer is yes, great, stick with them. If the answer is no or “I don’t actually know”, that is the problem we fix.

Not sure if your current setup is working?

The free audit will tell you straight, no hard sell. Book your free local marketing audit.

Why Work with Sokada?

We care about your enquiries.

We’ve built a lot of websites. The ones that get results aren’t always the prettiest. They’re the ones that are structured properly, say the right things, and make it easy for customers to get in touch. That’s what we build.

We do things properly.

Bespoke code. Real SEO and GEO built in from the start. No themes, no shortcuts, no leaving you with something that looks good but doesn’t work.

We’re honest & ethical.

If your existing website can be improved rather than replaced, we’ll tell you. We’d rather give you the right answer than the most expensive one.

Website & marketing, joined up.

We always recommend combining your website with an ongoing marketing package, because that’s when things really start to move. The website brings people in. The marketing makes sure they can find it in the first place.

You’re working with real people.

We’re a small, family-run team based in East Sussex. You’ll know who you’re dealing with, and they’ll know your business.

A great overall experience!

With our team you will enjoy the process…hopefully! We ask a lot of you, but you get a lot back, plus so much more.

Frequently asked questions.

Explore our frequently asked questions to get a better understanding of how we work and what we can do for you.

What is localised marketing, in plain English?

Localised marketing is everything that helps your business get found and contacted by people searching nearby. It includes your Google Business Profile, your website’s local pages, local SEO, reviews, and the directories your business is listed on. Done properly, it turns local searches into real enquiries.

How long before I see more enquiries?

Most clients start seeing a lift in Google Business Profile views and calls within the first 30 to 60 days. Organic search results take longer, usually three to six months, because Google needs time to register the changes. We agree realistic milestones at the start so you always know where you should be.

Do I need a new website for localised marketing to work?

Not always. If your current site is reasonably well built we can often work with it. If it’s slow, broken, or structurally poor, fixing those issues first will get you far better results. The free audit tells you which camp you’re in.

What areas do you cover?

We’re based in Heathfield, East Sussex, and work with businesses across East Sussex, Kent, West Sussex, Surrey and the wider South East including London. If you’re local to us, great. If you’re not, we still work with clients across the UK because localised marketing is done mostly online.

Can you help me rank on Google Maps?

Yes. Google Maps rankings come from a combination of your Google Business Profile, local relevance signals on your website, reviews, and the citations you have across the web. We work on all of these together, which is why results tend to be more reliable than just tweaking one thing.

What is GEO and do I need to worry about it?

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimisation. It’s the new version of SEO for AI search engines like ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity. AI-referred traffic grew more than 500% last year. We build every site and every local campaign to be cited by AI engines as well as ranked by Google.

How is this different from paid Google Ads?

Paid ads stop the moment you stop paying. Localised marketing builds an asset you own: a website, a profile and a reputation that keeps bringing enquiries in month after month. A lot of our clients use both, but we always start with the organic foundations.

Do you handle my Google Business Profile for me?

Yes. We either set it up from scratch or take over an existing one, optimise it properly, post to it regularly, respond to reviews, and keep it active. An active profile performs far better than an abandoned one.

I’ve been burnt by agencies before. How are you different?

Fair question, and we hear it a lot. The honest answer is that plenty of small businesses have been let down by someone charging £100 a month to do almost nothing. We’re a small, family-run team. Same faces every month. We explain what we’re doing and why. And we focus on enquiries, not traffic for its own sake.

Do you offer a contract or can I cancel any time?

Our standard localised marketing agreement runs for 12 months, because SEO and local marketing genuinely need that time to work properly. If something isn’t right, though, we’d rather have the conversation and fix it than hold anyone to a contract that isn’t working.

What do I need to get started?

A short call, access to your website and Google Business Profile, and an idea of which services you most want to be known for locally. That’s really it. We handle the technical side from there.

Can you work with my existing website and marketing person?

We can, within reason. The reason we get the best results is that we run the website and the marketing together. If the current setup has that split across different suppliers, we’ll be honest with you about what we think will and won’t work.

What happens after I book the free audit?

To start with undertake an audit of your website and any marketing that has been undertaken, looking for positives and negatives. When you book the audit you confirm a half an hour meeting, in which we discuss with you what we have found and how you might implement changes to improve things.

Based in Heathfield, working across the South East.

We’re a family-run web design and local marketing agency based in Heathfield, East Sussex. Most of our clients are within an hour of us, across Kent, Sussex and Surrey, though we work with businesses further afield where localised marketing suits them.

If you’re a small or medium business in Heathfield, Tunbridge Wells, Eastbourne, Crowborough, Uckfield, Lewes, Tonbridge, Hastings, Brighton, Maidstone or anywhere in between, we’d love to have a chat.

Ready to see where your local marketing is actually at?

Every localised marketing project at Sokada starts with a free audit. We look at your website, your Google Business Profile, your rankings and your competitors, and we tell you honestly what’s working and what isn’t. No pressure. No jargon. Not a sales pitch dressed up as a report.
