Beware of Your Website Agency…

We have just taken on a new customer. He has asked to move his website over to be hosted by Sokada. He found us online, read the Google Reviews about us and got in touch.

He has only recently had his website redesigned, to now include an e-commerce facility. But he was finding that he was unable to make updates and wasn’t happy with the functionality of this new website.

He came in to see our MD Julian Wates, who chatted through the current website, offering ideas as to how this new customer wanted to move his business forward, whether he did indeed actually need an e-commerce system on his website and what his business aims were.

They agreed on a plan and Julian spoke to him about the information he would need to transfer the website onto Sokada’s server.

When the customer got in touch with his old agency to ask to have his website and email accounts moved across, he was told that he didn’t in fact own the domain names, but he could have them anyway. However, the email would be shut off when transferred and the website turned off altogether.

This has astounded us at Sokada. As a responsible company who look out for all of our clients, we were shocked to find so little professionalism from another agency who had hosted this website for 11 years! All agencies lose as well as gain new customers; it’s just part of the job sometimes. However, as part of a service industry, all parties involved should remain impartial as well as acting on every customer’s best interests.

This is just a little reminder to everyone, that in business, be very careful of who you work with and always make sure you know all the facts about other businesses…
